This one-day training session is designed for middle school and high school teachers who are interested in improving or beginning the teaching of local and state government to their students. The concepts and materials presented are universal and cover public policy, research, and the investigation of community problems. Among the instructional strategies used are cooperative groups, portfolio development, consensus building, and action planning. The final interdisciplinary product is appropriate for
presentation to one or more community bodies.
